Peter Busk is Digital Project Manager with Monstarlab’s Life Science vertical

Early March we welcomed our new colleague, Peter Busk, as a digital project manager within Life Science. 

With both a theoretical and practical background in life sciences, an entrepreneurial attitude and focus on digitization, Peter will help us add great value to our life science clients’ journeys towards industry 4.0. Based in Copenhagen, Peter works closely with Youjie Zhang in assisting our global life science clients on their digital transformation journeys.

We caught Peter for a few words on him joining Monstarlab and his aspirations for the future.

Could you tell us a little about your background?

I hold a degree in Life-Science Engineering, from DTU, Denmark, and have been working as a Lean Partner in Novo Nordisk (DFP) QC, where I was responsible for productivity optimization and agile coaching for Labs for three years. Despite the interesting scope, I decided to leave my job for an entrepreneurial experience. Here I managed a team and worked on disrupting the way young talent and the industry connects, for two years.

Why did you decide to join Monstarlab?

After my years as an entrepreneur I longed to work in a fast growing company which is still buzzing with entrepreneurial spirit and can-do-attitude. And then my experience has taught me that delivering real value to real clients is a major criteria for me when choosing my career path. With Monstarlab’s expertise, yet young and global backbone, as well as overarching client-focus, this seems like a perfect match.

Which strengths do you anticipate will be most beneficial to our clients?

Working in QC, a GxP regulated environment for years has given me in-depth knowledge which supports my strong desire to understand my clients even better. Furthermore, my entrepreneurial curiosity and my background in lean startup helps me reduce project complexity by always using the rapid prototyping methodology of continuously build-measure-learn. 

With a desire to become a specialist within IT project management in a GxP context, I have made it my goal to help establish Monstarlab as an industry leader when it comes to Digitization and Digitalisation within my expertise field, life science.

What characterises the life science sector at the moment – and which trends do you think will influence it in the future?

The life science sector operates on a large base of legacy systems due to extremely high switching costs. This prevents digital transformation and all the productivity benefits it involves. It also means that implementing agile transformation or a continuous improvement culture can be difficult or even unachievable as the IT systems act as a constant obstacle rather than an enabler.

The past year’s pandemic has definitely also pushed to the paperless agenda, as the need and desire to work remotely has never been higher. This will without doubt require a large change in IT infrastructures and a possible retirement of several legacy systems, also in the life science sector.

Through digital transformation, we will enable our clients to be agile, innovative and ready for industry 4.0. This enables them to be at eye-level with their end users who, over time, will receive a more instant and personalized contact, ultimately leading to improved user satisfaction, brand strength, and revenue.

I hold a number of certifications, including SAFe 5.0 Product Owner, Agile shopfloor Coach, and Lean six sigma Black Belt which I will apply to my work in Monstarlab and improve my clients’ transformation processes whenever I can.
