CBRE is the largest commercial real estate services and investment firm in the world. We partnered with their innovation team to create CALC, a web app that helps commercial real estate brokers and their clients compare traditional vs flexible leasing. The application, powered by complex algorithms, quickly gained wide adoption throughout the company as a fast and easy way for brokers and their clients to make smarter, more informed decisions.

A Right-Sized Server Solution

We chose to utilise the AWS Lambda functions to get the computing power and speed needed to run large calculations efficiently. This solution allowed CBRE to reduce costs by only paying for resources as needed, as opposed to a traditional server infrastructure.

The Solution

A platform that simplifies one of the most difficult decisions in commercial real estate. CBRE was ahead of the trend in recognising flexible spaces as a necessary option for office tenants. Tenants can insert their unique information in an intuitive interface to deliver and compare various options for consideration. Evaluating flexible lease options compared to more traditional ones can be extremely complicated because of the many factors to be considered. Monstarlab partnered with CBRE to develop CACL.

Turning Complex Financial Data into Actionable Insight

CALC allows office tenants to easily compare pricing structures and headcount variables to find the best solution for their needs. It delivers an interactive report to support clients in choosing the appropriate space for their endeavors.

Trustworthy Tool

Our goal was to provide a trustworthy, easy-to-use CALC tool that lets users more conveniently make leasing calculations. Our focus was on increasing the rate of saved and shared calculations.

Introducing CALC to CBRE Brokers and the World

We knew that anyone who tried CALC would see its value immediately. So we created a promotional landing page to give brokers a chance to take a test drive and appreciate its ingenuity and ease-of-use firsthand.
