As a global leader in the car rental industry, SIXT needed to refresh its digital experience to maintain a competitive edge in a rapidly evolving mobility market.
One of the key challenges was delivering a consistent digital booking experience across global markets. Due to complex system infrastructures spanning multiple regions, creating an intuitive and seamless booking flow for users had become increasingly difficult.
At the same time, as structural shifts in the mobility industry—such as the rise of connected cars—continued to accelerate, evolving the existing business model for long-term competitiveness had become an important strategic priority.
Monstarlab collaborated closely with SIXT teams in Germany and India for approximately one year to redesign the car rental booking experience.
Working alongside engineering and product teams, Monstarlab led the UX design of a more intuitive and seamless booking flow. In addition to front-end improvements, the team identified opportunities to enhance the broader technical architecture, including the backend, and proposed upgrades to key technology components to strengthen the overall digital foundation.
From a strategic perspective, Monstarlab also analyzed how emerging mobility trends—such as connected vehicles—could impact SIXT’s business. Based on this analysis, the team proposed potential directions for new business models aligned with the future of mobility services.
Through approximately one year of collaboration, the project enabled the design of a consistent, high-quality digital booking experience across a complex multi-market system environment.
In addition, the identified technology improvements were assessed to have the potential to increase revenue by up to 25%.
The project also provided strategic direction for SIXT to maintain and strengthen its competitiveness in the evolving mobility market, including exploration of new business models aligned with the connected car era. By addressing both digital experience and business strategy, the initiative supported improvements in the short term while laying the groundwork for long-term transformation.
