Mashreq Bank wished to replatform their digital retail banking products to provide the foundation of a truly personalised digital customer experience. They chose Sitecore as their preferred experience platform, and partnered with Monstarlab. In addition to integrating an evolved corporate identity, they required a rapid execution to support their ambitious growth plans as well as to build their own Sitecore capability internally to power self-sufficiency, the deadline for handover to their internal development team was within 6 months. Despite facing the challenges of COVID-19, we were able to launch the site within 5 months, and build an internal foundational core team at Mashreq.

A Digital Pacesetter in a Traditional Banking Market

Appealing to a young, dynamic, tech-savvy market in the Middle East is a must for Mashreq. As a forward-thinking bank, they have adapted their offering by harnessing the best in omni-channel technology to keep pace with their customers. To Mashreq, being a digital fast-follower or mainstream player isn’t an option. They want to raise the bar for digital banking in a region where consumer expectations are higher than ever. Providing customers with a seamless banking experience, ready for personalisation across devices, before their peers is a key element in staying ahead of the competition.

The Solution

Monstarlab and Mashreq kicked off with a two day workshop to align on everything from mandatory requirements to personalised features on their new platform. Together, we formed integrated creative, frontend, backend and delivery teams represented by both parties to drive the transformation process. This structure gave visibility and transparency to everyone involved in the project. For Mashreq, it was important to build in-house capabilities in order to carry on developing and maintaining the platform internally. Being a trusted advisor, Monstarlab helped with upskilling Mashreq’s own Sitecore resources to safely and effectively become self-sufficient. In less than five months, we launched an entire new MVP Sitecore experience platform. Early management buy-in, close collaboration in agile development squads and building in-house Sitecore capabilities served as the backbone to a successful project launch.
