Challenges:

Wingstop faced the challenge of long lines forming at their stores due to their popularity. To enhance the customer experience, they sought ways to streamline the process from order placement to pickup and decided to implement a \"self-service pickup system\" where customers could independently complete the ordering, payment, and pickup of their food.

This system allows customers to order and pay online via their smartphones or at in-store touchscreen kiosk terminals. The order details are then transmitted to the kitchen through the POS system to initiate cooking. Once the order is ready, it is stored in a heated locker, and customers receive a notification to retrieve their food from the designated locker.

Realizing this new system required support utilizing various technologies, including UX/UI design, mobile app development, and backend system development, Wingstop sought a capable partner.

Solutions:

Wingstop and Monstarlab formed a joint team to handle the key phases of the project.

In the initial stages, a two-week sprint was conducted to deepen the understanding of Wingstop's vision and to create prototypes for verifying technical feasibility. Following this, the team worked on designing the full-fledged customer experience and building the design, in parallel with backend development and system integration.

To realize a system that intricately combined multiple IoT devices, the project prioritized achieving a seamless customer experience by steadily addressing detailed operational requirements. This included ensuring an excellent experience at the kiosk terminals, integrating payment solutions linked with the POS system, and generating authentication codes for order retrieval from the lockers.
