Challenges

In operating the service, there was a need to implement various additional functions, requiring constant and flexible responses. For example, in obtaining approval for taxi pre-determined fares from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's Automobile Transport Bureau, it was urgent to respond to the pre-determined fare service from October 28, 2019. Pre-determined fares are a new system that allows users to enter their planned boarding location and destination before boarding a taxi, automatically calculate the fare based on the travel distance on the map, and confirm the fare in advance.

Solutions

At Monstarlab, we formed a team that could respond flexibly to Minna no Taxi's situation, including a lead engineer, and provided continuous support. In responding to the pre-determined fare service, we formed a hybrid team structure with the client's internal development team and jointly proceeded with architectural modification proposals towards a common goal. By choosing a method to extend and optimize the existing architecture, we shortened the delivery time and contributed to releasing the service without delay.
