The shortage of drivers has become a serious issue in the logistics industry in recent years. This is considered to be due to a labor shortage associated with an aging population, and the decrease in experienced veteran drivers is having an impact that goes beyond the numbers.
OptiMind planned the development of a new service that would support the work of delivery drivers and help to de-personalize the workflow. They aimed to contribute to ensuring the sustainability of delivery business operations.
With the intention of repeatedly improving the app by incorporating feedback from drivers actually involved in delivery work, the project started with agile development. Based on OptiMind's expertise, we carefully examined the minimum necessary functions and defined the requirements.
We developed a beta version of the Android app in a short period of three months from kickoff and conducted a field test. Feedback from drivers favorably received the high accuracy of the optimal delivery route calculation, but issues with operability and responsiveness were highlighted.
The official release version was developed by integrating OptiMind's navigation app into the driver app. By consolidating the two separate services, we considered user convenience.
Furthermore, by adopting a UI design that enhances the visibility of the map display and job cards, we achieved a UX that even drivers unfamiliar with smartphones can operate without difficulty. We also implemented new features that reflect driver feedback, such as the ability to flexibly recalculate delivery routes according to the current situation.

We were responsible for the processes from UX/UI design to product development." }, "content2": "The native app, having undergone beta testing, was completed in a short period of approximately six months from project initiation. The rapid development in line with the business roadmap timeline was highly evaluated.
The driver app, by being mobile-app-ified, stabilized GPS acquisition and improved the accuracy of travel data capture. With its adoption by many delivery companies, further evolution in delivery data learning is anticipated.
Monstar Lab continues to provide support, aiming for further service improvement.
