Challenges

At the start of the project, about three years had passed since the initial release, and there were issues with UI design improvements, such as 'the existing site doesn't fit current trends' and 'it's difficult to find past articles.' Regarding the CMS (Content Management System), it was difficult to determine whether scratch development or open-source development was optimal, and there was a need to propose a development approach that would allow the client's operations team to work more efficiently after the renewal.

Solutions

Since the old CMS was developed using the development language 'Ruby,' which is one of Monstarlab's strengths, we proposed full scratch development, considering that we could provide thorough support up to maintenance and operations. To ensure that the renewal could be carried out without compromising the brand image, it was important to have the client share the design concept from the initial website. We paid attention to detail, such as newly introducing an article category classification function and maintaining the article structure and fonts that show the author's face.
