Along with system development, we pursued a multifaceted approach, including the release of OPENREC.tv with a primary focus on viewing, the production of professional gamers, and the holding of esports events. In January 2018, the number of monthly active users exceeded 2 million, and \"OPENREC\" has grown into one of the largest game video platforms in Japan.
Prior to the start of the project, CyberZ's main business was smartphone advertising, but they planned to launch a new business to promote further growth. While considering which area to enter, they decided to launch an esports business due to the large number of game-related companies among their advertising clients and the popularity of video distribution services. The challenges at the start of the project were the very high technical difficulty of the service they wanted to realize and a shortage of in-house engineers.
At Monstarlab, we not only provided customer-centric support but also conducted competitive analysis and market research in the esports field. Based on the research results, we jointly designed a product that could demonstrate a competitive advantage. Furthermore, we utilized overseas teams to conduct research and development (R&D) on screen and audio recording and were responsible for the implementation of the middle stream process. Through the development process, we provided transfer-type technical support and gradually increased the proportion of client employees in the development team.
